Why does this pump have 2 floats?

This pump has a double vertical float switch system.  This is so you can adjust the water level that the pump both starts and stops.

Vertical floats explained

A vertical float switch monitors water levels inside a reservoir tank. Regardless of the application, vertical float switches have one main purpose: to trigger an event when the liquid reaches a certain level. Below is a short video explaining how a single vertical float switch works.

The higher float is for turning the pump on automatically.  This float can be adjusted so the pump will turn on at a certain level.  The top float – When the water level in the tank rises to a certain level it automatically starts the pump.

The lower float is for turning off the pump automatically.  This float can be adjusted so the pump turns off at a certain level. The lower float – When the water level in the tank drops to a certain level the pump automatically stops.
